Ewdison Then Interview – Tech Blogger Earning $60,000 a Month!

Could you describe what you do and how you earn your living Ewdison?

I’m currently the Executive Editor and co-founder of R3 Media LLC, the company behind several technology blogs such as SlashGear.com, SlashPhone, PhoneMag, AndroidCommunity and many more.

At R3 Media my duty includes business development, strategy, and building the company’s culture. This is how I earn my living.

Recently you shared with me that just one of your blog’s earn over $40,000 a month! What’s your top tip for making money blogging?

Diversify your revenue stream. Explore revenue generation beyond traditional advertising schema.

Note From Michael: That advice is gold! Don’t put all your eggs in one basket, learn from someone who did 😉

The only way you will make money from blogging is to have a lot of visitors, I understand SlashGear receives 100,000’s of unique visitors each month, how have you been able achieve such a high level of readership?

SlashGear (US) actually receives an average of one million unique plus each month. It did not happen overnight nor without effort. Our editorial team are hard working people with vision to deliver fast pace news and keeping our readers engaged. I think at the end of the day, all of this achievement occur due to the passion we have for what we write.

As well as you, there is 5 other people who write content for your blog, why should blogger’s consider having a team of blogger’sinstead of doing all the work themselves?

The saying two heads are better than one, three heads are better than two has always been true in most cases; including running blog publications. Having a team of bloggers provide you with a different perspective on topics you are writing about, hence encourage you to see more than what you usually can by yourself; in other words, you will be able to create better content.

I always have a forum for each of my blog’s and its not often that you see other blogger’s do the same, what made you add a forum to your blog and what’s the benefits of having both?

Blog allows your readers to engage on the topic you defined, but it is not a venue for your reader to start a new topic. Forum on the other hand, gives your readers the freedom to communicate beyond what you write.

I also understand you run several other hugely successful blog’s with thousands upon thousands of subscribers, what’s been your secret to creating and launching new blog’s in your network?

Trial and error combined with hard work and consistency. In any type of business, there is no guarantee for success, but what I learn from my failure is my secret recipe.

Running a Internet Business gives you choices and freedom to do what you want, when you want. What would you say the Internet Lifestyle is for you?

Definitely. I feel much more inspired when I’m not chain to a desk in the office during most of my working hours.

Working with the end in mind is something I think about every day, where do you see yourself in a few years time? Do you have an exit plan in mind?

I honestly still enjoy doing what I do, however there is always an ending to everything; I think ultimately I would want to venture into something new. As for exit strategy, there are too many scenario at this moment.

What would you say is the biggest single reason for your success?

I think having great business partners that I can trust and dedicated team with the same vision is the primary reason for our success.

If you could go back in a time machine to the time when you were just getting started, what advice would you give yourself regarding making money online?

Get out from your comfort zone and challenge yourself.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

If it’s easy to get, it’s not worth getting it. Take a hard failure rather than an easy success will end with bigger success when you reach the top.
