OK, this isn’t the most earth-shattering share of the day/week/month/year, but I have had a tremendous amount of fun sticking this script on various sites I have and watching the traffic roll in. If you create backlinks for the lookup page, you’ll find people are searching for this type of info. They may also be looking for auto insurance and similar (CPA OFFERS!!).

I find it particularly good for offline SEO. You can easily brand it for your own use or a client’s site. There is code for a ‘widget’ which shows only 1 zip code, or you can put the whole script up.

READ THE ‘READ ME FIRST!.TXT’ FILE! It tells you how to set up the basics. You will need a Google Maps API key, which is free (you don’t already have one?!).

Once you’ve done that, go into the /templates folder and CHANGE THE ADSENSE ID on the html pages! Or delete it completely if you don’t want adsense ads.

While you’re in there, juice up the pages with meta, keywords, and some tasty CPA ads for insurance, auto loans etc. I put in an aweber opt-in form offering the code widget for their zip as an incentive.

Before you ask:
1) No I don’t have a european or asian version.
2) I did not write nor do I support this script.
3) I will not email it to you directly so don’t PM me.
4) I am still working out how to put it onto a wordpress page, but haven’t got that fully cooked yet.
5) I do not know why it does not work on your hostgator/free hosting.
6) This is a PHP script. Using a script means that you need a basic understanding of script coding, mysql, etc. If you do not have that, you will not be successful trying to run this…unless you get lucky.
